Our Story
William Watson & Co Accountants Ltd is a family business with over 30 years of accountancy experience.
Based in Uddingston, we support clients all across the central belt of Scotland, including Edinburgh, Stirlingshire and Glasgow.
We specialise in providing quality accounting services to meet the needs of both sole traders and limited companies.

We therefore have experience in using a range of different accountancy software, including Xero, Quickbooks, Sage and Iris.
We offer a fixed fee quote which is payable by monthly standing order so that there are no surprise bills for you.

Our Services
Tax Planning
We provide bespoke tax planning to legally minimise your tax liabilities.
The usual pillars of pension provision and use of personal allowances is fundamental for your tax planning.
Monthly Management Accounts
Working closely with your chosen software provider, we can provide monthly management accounts that are accurate and up to date using real time data (RTI) and in-tax year information.
Tax, VAT and Self Assessment Returns
The tax and VAT landscape is changing significantly from the 6th April 2026. We can support with changes to processes ahead of Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirments coming into force.
Bookkeeping and Payroll Services
We provide weekly and monthly payroll services using Xero, Sage, Quickbooks or landlord vision software. We also support in-house training so that you can manage this internally and keep your fees low.
Meet the Team
William Watson
Director
William, also known as Billy, is the company director and has been an accountant for over 30 years. Before starting this company, Billy worked in a PLC company and two of the top ten accountancy firms in the UK.
He is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (M.A.A.T).
Lesley Watson
Admin
Lesley works part-time in the business and she has supported Billy from the day the business launched back in 1989 taking on a range of roles to support the business needs.
Today, she supports with administrative tasks and with Quickbook services.
Kat
Laing
Bookkeeper
Kat has worked with William Watson & Co Accountants Ltd for over 15 years and brings with her a wealth of experience of bookkeeping and payroll services.
She is an expert in all things Sage and provides Sage payroll and accounts for clients requiring weekly and monthly services.
Eilidh
Watson
Stanfield
Trainee
Eilidh recently joined the family business after working in research. She has a PhD in Energy and Climate Justice.
She is currently working on her accountancy training with AAT. She supports with client Xero and Quickbook services. She is a Xero Accredited Adviser and Xero Accredited Payroll Administor.
